Open Hearts and Open Homes

I spent time with some wonderful people and was super blessed! Thank you for the hospitality and kindness. God has truly blessed me with a family in Okinawa! Thank You Lord!

Knitting and Nibbles

This morning the ladies from CC Oki got together to learn how to knit. It was nice to have fellowship with the ladies, but I didn't make much progress with knitting, I guess we will get back to that skill some other time. I would like to get it, so I can knit scarves maybe, but we will see. Anyway, here are a few pics from this morning.

Okinawan Tug of War at Naha

Crystal and I went to Naha for the famous Tug of War. If I am not mistaken it is the largest in the world. It was pretty amazing! It was kind of scary too.. You could easily get smashed by the crowds of people. Thankfully, we were at one end of it. So, I was able to escape every now and then. It was quite the experience. My favorite part of it was that it did not matter who you were, where you were from and what color you were... regardless of diversity, everyone came together to try to win on either side. I could not help but make some connections to working together as a body, in the Body of Christ and also how if we do not stick together to stay on the straight and narrow path, we could easily get pulled over on the other side, living in sin. This was definitely a memorable time and I am blessed I went with my friend Crystal, whom I love dearly. I am blessed by our friendship. It is a good and perfect gift from God. Thank You Lord for a blessed time!

Happy Birthday Dad!

My dad just had a B-day on Oct. 7th! It's not the same not being home to celebrate. Yet, I knew where he wanted to go for dinner! He's predictable! LOL.... I sent him an e-card and yep... he confirmed I was right about where they went. Glad you had a great birthday dad!

Love you! Your 1st born child, who you think is crazy! LOL

The School Year is Flying by...1st Quarter is almost over

First Quarter is just about over.. I can't believe it! Good thing I've stayed on top of my grading! Thank You Jesus! So, I know which students are needing extra help and in what areas. Yet, I need to make arrangements with some parents to see if some of my students can stay after school for extra help, one day a week. We will see how it goes. There is always so much to do. Your work is never really done as a teacher, because there is always planning to do for what is ahead. I praise the Lord though for this year.. it is very different from the way I started off last year in a whirlwind. Anyway, I hope next quarter is productive and successful, as far as my students are concerned. I pray the Lord give me wisdom to know how to help them improve in their areas of need. It's awesome that God is faithful to give us wisdom for all circumstances. Thank You Lord! You are the Master Teacher!

*These pics are of me wearing my student's hat. She put it on me and asked me to wear it. The kids are so cute. The other day I was reading a great book on geography and they were climbing all over me. One of my girls said, "Ms. Bessman, don't you feel like a star?" :) That is really funny and ironic to me, because of some recent happenings and something I read regarding almost that same line. I know this doesn't make sense, but I had to chuckle.
Anyway, I love taking pics! LOL... NO KIDDING! So, here are the crazy pop art effects of photo booth.. so fun!

I call these photos: "I teach. Therefore, I drink coffee!" :) (A quote on a Hallmark mug I saw in Ca. way back when).
